Balanced Buddies Res-Q is solely a foster based organization. Fosters play an extremely important role in rescue. Without fosters we would not be able to help animals in need. Sadly, there is an overwhelming amount of animals that need homes, and Balanced Buddies Res-Q can’t help these animals without dedicated foster homes.
*What does it mean to be a foster?
The simplest way to put it, is that you would become a temporary home for a dog. We pull from shelters and take on owner surrenders. You would be opening up your home to a homeless pet. The amount of time a dog may stay in your home will vary. A dog may be adopted in 2 weeks or it may take months depending on the dog or situation. Sometimes these dogs require medical care and it can take them a couple of months to get better. When you fill out our foster application you can let us know exactly what type of dog or case you are willing to take on. As a foster, you will also be able to be part of your foster dogs adoption process. You will provide information to the adoption coordinator so that we may place your foster in the best suitable home.
*What if I want to adopt my foster dog?
There is no problem with you adopting your foster. While we may lose you as a foster, you are giving our dog a forever home and for that we are happy! Adoption fees will not be waived but will be assessed on a case to case basis. However, we ask that you keep in mind that we may be receiving applications on your foster. Anytime we have a potential adopter interested in your foster, we will advise you. We would hate for the adopter to go through the entire adoption process (meet & greet, home visit etc) when its possible the foster may already have their forever home. I know this can be quite upsetting to families meeting their potential pet.
*What if my foster needs to go to the vet?
Our rescue will pay for the vet care at one of our approved vet partners. All we ask is that you give us a call explaining why the foster needs to see the vet.
*If you can't foster at this time or can only foster temporarily, please let us know. Sometimes a foster family needs to go out of town or a dog is coming in from transport and may need a place to stay for the night. Temporary fosters are extremely great to have in an emergency situation. If you are unable to foster at all but would still like to help, please go to our "Volunteer" section and see how you can help our Balanced Buddies!

All foster homes are screened in the same way as adoptive homes.
